Total Enrollments in Target Neighborhoods as of Oct. 2019

How do you get kids ready for kindergarten? Data tell us it’s books.

Kids who are read to regularly are much more likely to enter kindergarten ready to learn. Kids who have age appropriate books in the house have better reading and writing skills. But nation wide, 61% of kids below the poverty line don’t have age appropriate books.

We work with Best Beginnings to enroll kids in focused neighborhoods into Imagination Library, a program that gives kids from birth to five years old a book a month at no cost to the parents.

Best Beginnings ended FY19 with 1,405 total enrollments in zip codes 99501 and 99508. Overall, the program reaches around 74,000 Alaskan children.
